I am expressing my intent to apply for the position of Training Director
with the Upland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
My qualifications are as follows:
I became a member of Civil Air Patrol back in 1974 to the present, where is started my Emergency
Service training as a cadet and later as a senior member in the organization. I have been on ground
teams looking for down aircraft in the woods, been a part of ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter)
teams and have one Fine Ribbon to my records, worked shelters with the Red Cross during floods in
Houston, worked a part of a flight crew as an observer looking for down aircraft and went to the
Air Force Academy Survival Course. Some Training: Communications, Map & Compass Navigation, Ropes &
Rappelling, Shelter Management, Disaster Damage Assessment, Aerial & Ground Radiological
Monitoring, Basic Water Rescue, etc.
Worked with the Coast Guard, Red Cross, and local law enforcement Since 2004 I have been teaching my cadet (13‐18 age) the CERT program.
Present time I am the acting Training Director (officer) since Aug 2014 which involves more than
the description in the Bylaws.
